Western Montana has a gained a talented pastry chef, Chef Betty Tappero. Betty and her husband have made the Mission Valley their new home. While chef Betty was raised in Rhode Island, she comes to Montana from Hawaii. Having lived in many areas of the US, Betty is excited to bring a wide range of flavors and styles to her new home in the Flathead Lake area.

B3 A Beach Bunny Bakery has been making delicious cakes, cupcakes, and specialty pastries for all occasions since 2014. With a love of the mountains and the desire to keep B3’s beach themed roots intact, B3 will be known as “B3 Mauka” in Montana. This name blends B3 island foundations with it’s new home, mauka meaning “towards the mountains” in Hawaiian.

While Betty was working as the executive pastry chef for a local restaurant group in Hawaii, she became an award winning pastry chef. Betty was awarded the Star Chef’s Rising Star Award for her desserts with vibrant and bright tropical flavors with gluten free and vegan options.

Betty is always learning and honing her skills in the kitchen and cake decorating. In the summer of 2019, Betty received her Master Certificate in cake decorating from the Renshaw Academy taught by the award winning and world renowned pastry chef Nicholas Lodge.

Chef Betty has been in the culinary field since 2003, learning to love baking at a young age from her mother and grandmothers. Chef Betty has been fortunate enough to travel with her husband living and working in the four corners of the country. Growing up in Rhode Island and attending culinary school in Massachusetts cemented her base knowledge and passion for traditional pastries.

Currently Betty showcases her well known pastry skills and less well know savory chops in Alaska for the summer. You can book locally in Montana with Chef Betty from Mid October-Mid May. Otherwise follow her culinary talents via Instagram.
